Benchmarking, tools and assessments
Thousands upon thousands are spent by companies on profiles and assessments year in year out, and the results are questionable. Organisations have their people stating I’m a Sunflower I can only shine in these conditions, I’m a Cactus I am bound to prick some people, or they attach themselves to some number or label citing that based on the profiling results they are limited to a particular behaviour or outcome. These results leave the organisations questioning the effectiveness of these profiles.
One of the reasons that many of these assessments and profiles do not create the desired outcome that they promise is explained up by Todd Rose of the Mind, Brain and Harvard Graduate School of Education. He states that inducing traits and characteristics onto people is a natural psychological but an unconscious process, basically, fixed traits are a myth and should always be seen within a context. We need to match people and the context for the sake of their self-esteem, effectiveness and fulfilment.
The power of Axiology comes in to play when used within the Attribute Index. The Attribute Index is a mathematically accurate assessment that objectively identifies how our minds analyse and interpret our experiences. It also recognises how we are most likely to react in a given situation or context.
Axiology’s accuracy of determining behaviour within a context over many other profiling tools and assessments is due to the fact it is not an inductive assessment but rather a deductive assessment; Axiology is the science of value. Developed by Dr Robert S Hartmann (MIT/Yale), and nominated for a Nobel Prize on this groundbreaking work. It has been stated that what Hartman did for the human sciences was equal to what Newton did for the physical sciences. The development of the science of axiology makes possible the objective measurement of human value or the act of making assessments about ourselves and the world around us.
As The SOAR Institute utilising this diagnostic tool, I have witnessed and encountered the power of the axiology and the Attribute Index in creating massive breakthroughs. There is transformational power when you can assist individuals and teams to look at their inherent values and recognise why and how they apply them in various contexts. The individuals and teams can assess if these values/ beliefs are empowering or hindering themselves and move to deal with these values accordingly.
Whether used for the development of Individual/ Executives, Leaders, Managers, Sales Executives, Strategy Implementation and Team cohesion and effectiveness axiology creates a robust, inciteful and accurate way to bring about sustainable change.
