The SOAR Institute hosts a sponsored business breakfast once a quarter. Its purpose is to educate current and potential clients of the latest trends in organisational and people development. The breakfast talk is an hour long and provides an insightful and often unique perspective on aspects of business leadership, management, performance and producing improved results. Topics are always current and cutting edge and provide attendees with powerful distinctions and new knowledge in an informal, humorous and innovative manner.

The way we do business today is not working, and probably hasn’t been working for a while, and if you think it is, you may be part of the problem. It’s becoming more and more common that businesses are losing their way and becoming unsustainable because of bad decisions and poor leadership or they’re imploding because they’ve turned to the dark side and have become sustainable only through fraudulent practices.
From business behemoths to tiny entrepreneurial ventures, it seems like a collapsing house of cards. We think most of us suspect that what’s come to light so far is only the tip of the iceberg, and we’re going to see this purge gain momentum in the coming months.
So, what’s really going on here?
- Is the way we’ve been doing business fundamentally flawed?
- Have captains of industry lost their moral compass?
- Has it just become common practice or the culture of business that it’s corrupt and self-serving to the detriment of everyone and everything else?
- Are we producing uninspired, ethically impaired automatons, programmed to only look out for number one?
If all, or even one of these questions are answered in the affirmative, then what is the solution?
Flourishing organisations today recognise that you cannot split the company’s need for profit from its need to provide their individuals and their teams a way to operate from their highest motivations. To do this calls for a new way of thinking, doing and being.
